Former Tottenham Hotspur player Jamie O’Hara has criticized Manchester United, saying the club may have harmed the mental health of England international winger Jadon Sancho due to their handling of Sancho.
Recently, Man United revealed that Sancho would be training separately from the first team as the club dealt with a “squad discipline” issue.
Related to Sancho’s X (formerly Twitter) post.
When Manchester United played Arsenal earlier this month and lost 3-1, Sancho was not included in the starting lineup by manager Erik ten Hag.
The 23-year-old didn’t train to the ‘level required,’ in Ten Hag’s opinion.
But Sancho shot back, disputing the allegations and claimed that Ten Hag was using him as a scapegoat.
It was later claimed that if Sancho apologized to Ten Hag, he would be welcome back into the Man United squad.
Concerning this new turn of events, O’Hara expressed her disdain at the ‘disgusting’ attitude Man United had shown Sancho.
“I think it is disgusting what they [Manchester United] are doing to him,” O’Hara said on talkSPORT.
Whether that was the proper thing to do or not, I am aware that he has made a public statement. Was it fair for Ten Hag to unearth him when he wasn’t even part of the crew?
They will never be able to restore Jadon Sancho to his former glory with the treatment he is receiving right now. All you’ll do is hurt the football player’s psyche and make him feel more worse than he does right now.
He continued, “I’m sure Jadon Sancho is having a hard time right now. He’s always struggled with his mental health. Manchester United should be ashamed of themselves if they treat their own player so cruelly after proclaiming themselves “mental health ambassadors” and doing so much good for the mental health of their group and community.
“In this day and age, they shouldn’t be doing that…. We are all aware of what has happened in the past, but it is unacceptable to subject a young kid who is already experiencing mental health problems to such treatment.
