Why Wike Has to Tear Down Aso Rock – Bwala’s Master Plan

Aso Villa, the official residence of the Nigerian president, is the first target of Federal Capital Territory Minister Nyesom Wike’s plan to demolish structures not included in the city’s original Master Plan of Abuja.
On Thursday night’s episode of Channels Television’s Politics Today, Daniel Bwala, a spokesman for the Atiku Abubakar Presidential Campaign Council for the 2023 elections, confronted the minister on his demolition threat.
Bwala suggested that the President’s home and other government assets should be destroyed if the original Master Plan of the FCT must be upheld.
He said the minister had better things to do than tear down buildings.
The FCT is an Administration, not a Ministry, like the Ministry of Works. Bwala argued that the Administration of the FCT consists of much more than only demolition.
Let’s dive right into the wrecking. Wike has stated that he desires a return to the original Master Plan. Aso Villa, where the President and the government’s seat of power are located, was not included in the original Master Plan and hence must be demolished.
Second, none of the FCT’s military barracks were included in the original Master Plan, therefore they’ll have to be torn down.
Thirdly, the extension of Asokoro where all the governors of Nigeria have liaison offices or their private houses is not part of the original concept and will be demolished. “Many key assets and buildings owned by the Federal Government are not included in the original Master Plan,” he stated.
The leader of the Peoples Democratic Party has said that ex-governor Wike of Rivers State has the ability to deliver as a minister, therefore he should stop being so combative and hurry up and get things done.
