Why We Signed Messi From PSG – David Beckham, Inter Miami Co-Owner

David Beckham, co-owner of Inter Miami, has speculated on why the club signed Argentina star Lionel Messi.

Messi signed as a free agent with Inter Miami after his contract with Paris Saint-Germain terminated this summer.

On Saturday, the 36-year-old was officially revealed as a new Inter Miami player.

Speaking of Messi, Beckham stated that his club recruited the former Barcelona captain because he wanted to bring the world’s best players to Miami.

Beckham said he wants to help expand football in the United States and leave a legacy for the future generation.

“10 years ago, when I began my journey to build a new team in Miami, I stated that I hoped to bring the best players in the world to this incredible city.”

“Players who shared my ambition when I joined LA Galaxy to help grow football in the United States and leave a legacy for the next generation in this sport that we all love.”

“That dream came true today. “I couldn’t be more proud that a player of Leo’s [Lionel Messi’s] caliber is joining our club, but I’m also thrilled to welcome a good friend, an amazing person, and his beautiful family to the Inter Miami community,” Beckham stated (via Evening Standard).
