Pep Guardiola, manager of Manchester City, has stated that Declan Rice opted to join Arsenal instead of West Ham.
This summer, both Arsenal and Manchester City were interested in signing the England midfielder.
After a £90 million deal from City fell short, Arsenal came back with an offer of over £100 million to sign the 24-year-old Rice.
Despite significant interest from Manchester City, Guardiola thinks Rice will be a “incredible player” for their Premier League rivals and that the midfielder always wanted to play under Mikel Arteta.
The best of luck to Rice now that he has chosen Arsenal.
He’s a great man, a key player, and he’ll play a big role for England. In his news conference before Sunday’s Community Shield final at Wembley, Guardiola praised Arsenal’s “what an incredible player” Alexis Sanchez.
