Igbos have moved on with Bola Ahmed Tinubu as president-elect, and thus the Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, should accept the outcome of the presidential election in good faith.
Ohanaeze Secretary-General Okechukwu Isiguzoro made the announcement in response to a call for Tinubu’s resignation by the Igbo Patriotic Forum and Elders Forum.
Information According to Nigerian media, the group has stated that Tinubu should not be inaugurated as president until the tribunal determines the winner of the 2023 presidential election.
Isiguzoro, who condemned the call, stated that the Ime-Obi has decided that Igbos should support Tinubu’s presidency until a court of competent jurisdiction rules otherwise.
However, Isiguzoro was in conversation with the Daily Post.
Actions would fall back on us and the Igbo population, who are primarily traders living outside of Igbo-speaking states. The vast majority of them are concentrated in the Southwest, particularly in Lagos State.
“We are warning everyone who uses the Igbo platform to let the court do its job, because Ohanaeze has nothing to lose.” Those who argue Tinubu should not be sworn in are calling for an interim government, which he describes as “very satanic and evil and does not represent the interests of Ndigbo.”
The organization, according to Isiguzoro, would not allow some elements to pit Igbos against the president-elect.
“That is their opinion,” he continued, “but Ohanaeze will attend his inauguration and not pick a fight with the president-elect.”
“Ohanaeze’s position” pick up a fight they can’t finish against Tinubu. Igbo traders across the country would feel the heat of the proclamation of some so-called elders.”
