We created them; France is responsible for the existence of Mali, Burkina Faso, and Niger. Macron claims that Mali, Burkina Faso, and Niger would not exist if France did not intervene. President Macron Makes a Brag

Emmanuel Macron, the president of France, has boasted that his country is responsible for the existence of Mali, Burkina Faso, and presumably the Niger Republic as well.

According to Macron, “there would probably no longer be a Mali” if it weren’t for French military operations in the Sahel region.Burkina Faso, and I doubt that Niger would exist at all.

In an interview with the French daily Le Point, Macron reportedly brought up the former colonial power’s involvement in the mid-2000s, specifically Operations Serval and Barkhane.

After Mali’s military authorities severed connections with France, the latter country’s soldiers were relocated to Niger.

He said that the interventions were carried out “at the request of African states” and were “successful,” despite the fact that his policy is under examination because of the loss of Niger’s support, his sole surviving friend.

He continued, saying that despite the “tragic for the states concerned,” France could no longer remain involved “when there is a coup d’état, and the priority of the new regimes is not to fight terrorism.”

Macron, in the interview, defended the Sahel policy of his administration, which he said prioritizes partnership over security.

More than a thousand French troops are still stationed at a military post in Niger despite the proclamation by coup leader General Abdurahman Tchiani that all military deals between Niger and France are ended.
