Troops thwart ISWAP ambush, resulting in 1 death and 5 injuries.

An IED ambush occurred on KARETO Road in the Mobbar Local Government Area of Borno State, Northeast Nigeria, targeting a commuter van.

The Islamic State in the West African Province (ISWAP) is blamed for planting the IED in order to lure in the troops and then finish them off with a pistol attack.

The commuter van was damaged, and one passenger was killed and five others were injured.

Nonetheless, 5 Brigade Operation Hadin Kai forces arrived and performed fighting clearance patrols, clearing the area so the dead and injured could be brought back to Gubio Town.

Troops and the terrorists hiding in the background engaged in gunfire before the victims of the ambush could be recovered.

Since the terrorist fled the site on one xGT and numerous motorcycles, the number of casualties is unknown.
