Tinubu says, “I’ll follow Yar’Adua’s footsteps.”

On Friday, President-elect Asiwaju Bola Tinubu praised late President Umar Musa Yar’Adua for his dedication to democracy and good governance, promising to follow in his footsteps.
Tinubu, in a memorial tribute signed by him, said the late Yar’Adua led a purposeful life.

“We’ll Never Forget You!” he declared. Today, as always, I remember late President Umaru Musa Yar’Adua, my good friend and brother in the struggle for democracy and good governance in Nigeria, who died on this day 13 years ago.

“May 5, 2010 may have passed, but the wound remains fresh for some of us.” We remember the day as much as we remember Mallam Umaru Yar’Adua’s purposeful life.

“As a friend and political associate, I cherish the late Yar’Adua’s memories of honesty, steadfastness, patriotism, and excellence in public service as governor of Katsina State (1999 to 2007) and president of Nigeria (2007 to 2010).”

“As I prepare to take the reins of this country on May 29, I am determined to follow in the footsteps of leaders such as Mallam Umaru Yar’Adua, who demonstrated an exceptional sense of propriety and selfless service to our dear country.”

“Relax, dear brother. May your soul find eternal peace with your Creator, ameen.”
