There’s an old video of El-Rufai online, and he says, “I was minister when I was 43, and it’s unfair to return 20 years later

Nasir El-Rufai, a former governor of Kaduna State, has said that he is too old to serve as a minister again.

El-Rufai made this claim on an old video of him chatting with a group of mystery individuals.

The ex-governor served as Obaanjo’s Federal Capital Territory minister from 2003 to 2007.

The National Assembly has not yet approved him as a minister, although his name is on the list President Bola Ahmed Tinubu submitted to them.

He then proceeded to say, in Hausa,

“You became a minister at the age of 43, and then again twenty years later at the age of 63? Where are your siblings and offspring? They won’t train to be priests, right? Does this job exist solely for you? I’m not a fan of this. Drop the subject.

“Thank God, I got the job as Minister of Abuja when I was only 43 years old. I will turn 63 the next year. After that, I shall return. So, none of my younger brothers or my kids have the right stuff to become a minister? When you don’t prepare your successors, you set yourself up for failure. Many talented individuals that I have coached have gone on to achieve great things in their chosen fields.
