The South Eastern Biafran Sit-In is Over, According to COAS Lagbaja

Lieutenant General Taoreed Lagbaja, Chief of Army Staff, has announced that the sit-in in the South Eastern states has ended.

A breakaway organization called the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, has ordered a nationwide shutdown in several states in the country’s southeast.

Tuesday in Abuja, at the start of the Combined Second and Third Quarters COAS Conference, Lagbaja made this announcement.

Equally, we have increased our efforts to curb crime in the South East Region, where groups like the Indigenous People of Biafra and Eastern Security Network have been a problem.

He stated, “Through Operation Udo Ka, our troops have, together with other relevant stakeholders, ended the notorious sit-at-home order that had nearly paralyzed socio-economic activities in the region.”

Until its leader Nnamdi Kanu was released from the detention of the Department of State Services, the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) had declared every Monday a sit-at-home day two years ago.
