According to the Lagos State Police Command, one Samuel Adeniyi was detained for the slaying of his girlfriend in an undisclosed part of Lagos with a sledgehammer.
On Thursday, Ikeja, Lagos, Police Commissioner Idowu Owohunwa made the announcement during a press briefing at the Police Officers Mess.
According to Owohunwa, the suspect killed his unnamed lover because he was worried she could leave him for another man.
While parading suspects in Lagos, the CP made the following statement about one of them: “One Samuel Adeniyi got consumed by emotions and smashed the head of his girlfriend, and killed her.” Adeniyi claimed he murdered his girlfriend because he was afraid she would leave him. We have him in custody and the sledgehammer he used is in our possession; he will be brought to justice.
The CP paraded other suspects in Lagos and announced that the police had been successful in their Operation Flush raids and arrests of alleged cultists and armed traffic robbers within a month of the operation’s inception.
A month ago, he announced, “We initiated Operation Flush to recover the public space from criminal groups that appeared at some time to undermine internal security order in Lagos State.
Two AK-47s, a locally made gun, and a highly unusual gun were among the 18 weapons found within the past two weeks. In addition, a type of weapon was confiscated that has never been seen before in the criminal arsenal of this country.
Two simulated firearms made in the area were found, which had been used in practice robberies. Two bags carrying counterfeit US dollars and British pounds were found, along with “15 cartridges, four spent cartridges, six matches, and 34 bags of weed believed to be Indian hemp.”
Owohunwa said, “This again points to the fact that there is a syndicate adulterating engine oil within Lagos,” after six kegs of counterfeit Total engine oil were found in a separate investigation. That criminal organization has also been exposed.
He also said that suspects in the Ikeja neighborhood killing of a police officer have been apprehended by the command.
