Jibrin Barau, the senator-elect for Kano South, was elected without opposition to the position of Senate Deputy President.
Following his nomination by David Umahi (Ebonyi South), the incoming senator and former governor of Ebonyi State, he rose to prominence.
Salisu Mustapha, a member-elect from Kwara North, backed the nomination.
Barau accepted the nomination and won without opposition the position of Deputy Senate President of the 10th Assembly.
