According to the Nigeria Referees Association, VAR will debut in the 2023–24 Nigeria Professional Football League season.
Sanni Zubair, president of the NRA, made the announcement in an interview with the press.
According to Zubair, the implementation of VAR would improve the efficiency of game officials.
He further said that in order to accomplish this goal, the association is cooperating closely with the NPFL’s broadcast partner.
Retired FIFA referee Zubair is confident in better officiating this year.
On September 9, the new season will begin at the Lekan Salami Stadium in Ibadan with a match between Shooting Stars and Plateau United.
