In preparation for the governor’s race in Kogi State, which will be held on November 11, former deputy governor Yomi Awoniyi has joined the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Last week, Awoniyi gave the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) his resignation letter.
On Tuesday in Abuja, Awoniyi was formally inducted into APC at the party’s national headquarters.
The former deputy governor of Kogi State spoke shortly after declaring his new political adventure, and he acknowledged the difficulties of Kogi State politics.
Governor Bello’s efforts to unite Kogi State against all difficulties were lauded.
From 2011 to 2015, I was Kogi State’s Deputy Governor,” he said. Knowing the state as well as I do, I can attest that the present governor is doing an excellent job of leading and governing the state. His humility is unparalleled, and his ability to bring the people together is nothing short of miraculous.
During Captain Idris Wada’s tenure as governor of Kogi State (2011-2015), Awoniyi served as his deputy.
While welcome Awoniyi, Governor Yahaya Bello referred to him as a “big fish” and emphasized the significance of his choice to join the APC.
