The EFCC has arrested former Minister of Power, Sale Mamman, for N22 billion fraud.

Sale Mamman, a former Minister of Power, has reportedly been arrested and detained by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) for an alleged N22 billion fraud.
Mamman, who served as a minister under President Muhammadu Buhari from 2019 to 2021, was apprehended in the early hours of Wednesday and is being held at the anti-graft agency’s headquarters in Abuja, according to The Cable.

According to reports, the arrest is linked to investigations into alleged corruption in the execution of some power projects. Mamman is accused of conspiring with ministry staff in charge of the Zungeru and Mambilla Hydro Electric Power projects’ accounts to divert N22 billion and divide it among themselves.

The investigations turned up properties in Nigeria and abroad that were allegedly linked to the suspects.

Millions of naira and dollars are said to have been recovered.

Recall that on September 1, 2021, President Muhammadu Buhari fired Mamman and Sabo Nanono, the minister of agriculture and rural development, in what was dubbed a cabinet restructuring.
