The backlog of 60,000 passport applications in Nigeria has been cleared, according to the Interior Minister

The backlog of 60,000 passport applications has been resolved in just four business days, according to Minister of the Interior Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo.

According to a statement released by Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation Beta Edu’s media adviser Babatunde Alao on Tuesday, Tunji-Ojo made the revelation while meeting with Edu.

The government under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is working around the clock, the minister said.

About 60,000 passport backlogs have been cleared as of this morning, with 59,906 in particular.

We had almost 200k pending requests on September 6th, the day I issued the two-week deadline. I stand by my statement that such backlogs must be addressed, and we have made progress in that regard.

The minister reportedly ordered the Nigeria Immigration Service to process all passport applications that had been backlogged as of last Thursday, as previously reported by DAILY POST.
