On Wednesday, the Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) advised its citizens to ignore reports of a weather shift caused by severe pollution.
Earlier, on the internet, claims surfaced about a weather shift caused by dangerously high levels of air pollution.
However, NiMet issued a statement through its X account denying the allegations and assuring Nigerians that they should not be alarmed because the report is not authentic.
A news story circulating in Nigeria about a weather shift due to dangerously high levels of air pollution is NOT TRUE; it has NOT come from the Nigerian Meteorological Agency, and the people of Nigeria are being asked to disregard it.
“THERE IS NO NEED FOR PANIC,” the agency tweeted.
