DSS nighttime agents invaded the offices of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), a sister organization, on Friday night.
The raid reportedly continued through early Saturday morning, according to SaharaReporters. The action was allegedly carried out at night to avoid being discovered by the public, and EFCC employees were told not to disclose any details of the raid to the general public.
Beyond what the general public is led to believe, a source close to the DSS told SaharaReporters that the DSS is working for a specific purpose that is very vital to the president.
Another source, however, said that it might be connected to the DSS’s recent closing of the EFCC office in Ikoyi, Lagos.
The insider told SaharaReporters, “I heard the raid and partisanship of the DSS was the reason they raised an alarm yesterday (Saturday) that some of their disgruntled officers are planning to embarrass the agency and the leadership.”
It was further learned that the DSS would summon some of the detectives working on the case of former Zamfara State Governor Bello Matawalle for questioning.
In fact, the insider claimed, “That is intimidation, symptomatic of what former Attorney General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami did during Ibrahim Magu’s tenure as EFCC chairman to get several suspects off the hook.”
