Speaker Abbas Nigeria will once again be great on the anniversary of its independence

Nigeria will overcome its economic challenges, according to Rt. Hon. Abbas Tajudeen, speaker of the House of Representatives.

On Sunday, Nigeria will celebrate its 63rd independence anniversary, and the Speaker’s words come at a fitting time.

This was announced on Saturday by Musa Abdullahi Krishi, the Speaker’s Special Adviser on Media and Publicity.

The Speaker urged his or her fellow countrymen to maintain optimism despite the dire predictions of some, adding that they would soon be proven wrong.

The Speaker assured the audience that Nigeria would recover from its economic woes, including the country’s skyrocketing inflation, depreciating currency, and energy problems.

Abbas has urged unions affiliated with the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and the Trades Union Congress (TUC) to reconsider their plans to launch a statewide strike on Tuesday, October 2, over welfare issues, and he has urged them to do so again.

A statewide indefinite strike, he argued, would do the country no good and would only make matters worse.

He hoped that the strike would be called off so that the unions and the federal government could come to an amicable agreement.
