Shehu Sani, a former Kaduna Central lawmaker, has accused Nigerian lawmakers of docility in various state assemblies.
Some governors will leave office on May 29, either after serving two terms or because they were defeated in the March 18 governorship election.
There have been rumors that some of the outgoing governors have been purchasing expensive cars, houses, and other items with less than three weeks until their terms expire.
This is possible, according to Sani, because the state houses of assembly are subservient to the governors and thus approve whatever is presented to them.
“Outgoing governors are allocating billions of dollars to themselves because there is always a docile successor.” and subservient states house of assemblies to approve of it,”
