Argentina national team coach Lionel Scaloni has named PSG forward Lionel Messi the current frontrunner for the Ballon d’Or award in 2023.
Messi is one of the leading candidates for the Ballon d’Or this year, having won the 2022 FIFA World Cup with Argentina’s national team in Qatar.
The former Barcelona captain also contributed 10 goals to the tournament, making him the first footballer in history to score a goal in each of the four rounds of a single World Cup knockout stage.
Scaloni, on the other hand, believes Messi, 35, should win the Ballon d’Or this year.
