Manager Mauricio Pochettino has stated unequivocally that he did not approve of Cole Palmer’s transfer from Manchester City to Chelsea.
The Argentine stated that Laurence Stewart and Paul Winstanley, the club’s sporting directors, were responsible for the signing of the teenager.
The 21-year-old former star of the England youth national team made his Blues debut on Friday.
For an initial sum of £40 million, Palmer departed the Premier League champions.
Pochettino praised the English player, saying he is a good match for his vision, despite the fact that he was not his idea.
I suppose the sporting director and the owner, of course, but the sporting director, it was his idea to bring him to the team,” Pochettino stated at a press conference before Chelsea’s match against Nottingham Forest.
He seems like a good match for the role. Obviously a talented player.
