The General Overseer, Alter of Solution and Healing Assembly in Oyigbo Local Government Area (LGA), Pastor Chidiebere Okoroafor, was found guilty of murdering three people, including his choir mistress, who he impregnated, and was given the death penalty by a Rivers State High Court in Port Harcourt.
According to Information Nigeria, the Rivers Police Command detained Okoroafor on December 17 as a result of a call-out for the murder of three people on December 11 in two different places in a community in Oyigbo.
The evidence and confessional statement by Pastor Okoroafor proved he murdered his Church’s choir mistress after making her pregnant, and he also killed her friend, Chigozie Ezenwa, along with her daughter, Christabel Ezenwa, according to Justice S O Benson’s judgment on the murder trial, which he delivered on Monday.
Pastor Okoroafor was ordered to be executed by hanging or by a lethal injection, which also has a quicker death rate, by Justice Benson, who felt that the prosecution had established its case for murder against the pastor.
Precious Ordu and Antonia Osademe, prosecution attorneys from the state ministry of justice who represented the International Federation of Female Lawyers during the murder trial, expressed satisfaction with the verdict and said that they felt that justice had been done.
In the meantime, Innocent Ekwu, the convicted Pastor’s attorney, said that his client had good cause to challenge the verdict.
