Abdullahi Ganduje, national chairman of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, launched the party’s campaign council for the governorship race in Imo on November 11.
Ganduje, who led the drill on Saturday, urged the people of Imo to re-elect Governor Hope Uzodinma so that the state could continue on its current path of progress.
He said that President Bola Tinubu’s appointment of Cross River State Governor and Senator Bassey Otu to head the campaign council was indicative of how seriously Tinubu takes this election.
He urged the people of Imo to use Uzodinma’s cross-ethnic goodwill and sage advice to ensure the state’s continued growth and prosperity.
He continued, saying that President Tinubu had pledged to do everything in his power to bring Imo to the next level and that Governor Uzodinma was a loving, clever, deft, and helpful gentleman to the President and APC in general.
Uzodinma spoke and thanked Tinubu for his endorsement and the APC’s national leadership for their help and, in particular, the many appointments they made for the state of Imo.
He urged the people of Imo to rally behind the APC in the upcoming election, saying that the APC in Imo is more than just a political party.
“APC is a party to beat because it appears to be the only party in Imo that has prepared enough for the next election in November.
There’s no doubt that my people are ready for D-Day and full of optimism. So, what has been implied will be made official.
We have started on the path to peace. We have extended an olive branch to all the stalwarts of our great party who have been wronged in one way or another.
We have seen large defections from other political parties, and recently many of them have returned to join the party.
“As I speak to you, for the majority of the opposition political parties in Imo state, their party structures and the majority of their leaderships have joined the APC,” he stated.
Otu, who also spoke, emphasized that they “only came to reemphasize the reelection of Gov. Uzodimma by saying Yes! Yes! Yes!”
He expressed gratitude to the people of Imo for their support of the APC in the most recent national election.
Governors Francis Nwifuru of Ebonyi, Mai Mala-Buni of Yobe, and Dikko Umar Radda of Katsina, together with ministers and members of the APC National Working Committee, attended the inauguration.
