Nomination forms to be sold by LP January 25

From January 25, 2024, to February 11, 2024, the Labour Party’s National Working Committee (NWC) has authorized the sale and submission of nomination and expression of interest forms for the Edo State election.

Following Wednesday’s NWC meeting in Abuja, the party’s national publicity secretary, Obiora Ifoh, released a statement including the aforementioned details.

Ifoh mentioned that LP waived the fee for the expression of interest form solely for female hopefuls.

According to him, the Labour Party’s leadership made a significant decision about the Edo election after a meeting of the National Working Committee (NWC) chaired by Julius Abure.

This relates to the rules for the running of the primaries and congress for the office of governor of Edo state.

Among these is the NWC’s green light allowing the sale of forms to any and all interested state aspirants, regardless of nationality, who live in or are citizens of Nigeria.

“The National Working Committee has given its approval for the expression of interest fee to be five million naira, and the nomination form fee to be twenty-five million naira.”

Ifoh elaborated by saying that the Committee had given its blessing to indirect primary elections, in which party flag bearers will be chosen at ward and local government congresses.

He said that the following dates have been approved: February 14 for candidate screening, February 22 for the primary election, and February 23 for the finalization of any appeals or disputes stemming from the primaries.
