Man Arrested for ‘Beating’ Victim into Coma

For allegedly beating Kamorudeen Ladi till he was rendered unconscious, the police in Lagos on Friday charged 30-year-old Shoola Segun before an Ojo Magistrate Court in Lagos.
The defendant was charged with two counts that involved violence and a breach of the peace before the magistrate, Mrs. D.S. Odukoya.

Segun, on the other hand, entered a not guilty plea.

The defendant committed the offense on July 1 at the First Gate Bus Stop in the Iba neighborhood of Ojo, Lagos State, according to the prosecutor, Inspector Esther Adesulu, who testified in court.

Adesulu claimed that Ladi, an inhabitant of Ojo’s Idi-Araba Oke-New Ire neighborhood, and the defendant had a falling out.

The prosecutor claims that once the miscommunication worsened, the defendant reportedly punched Ladi multiple times in front of witnesses, knocking him out cold.

She testified before the court that the blow allegedly injured Ladi’s left ear to bleed.

Adesalu claimed that the defendant also behaved in a way that could have disturbed the calm of the community.

Sections 168 and 173 of the Lagos State Criminal Law, 2015, she claimed, were violated by the act.

Odukoya set the trial date for July 27 and granted the defendant bail in the amount of N200,000 with two sureties in the same amount.
