Popular Nigerian singer, Omoniyi Raphael better known as Zlatan Ibile has revealed that it took months to master his role in the popular movie ‘Gangs of Lagos’.
In the crime thriller Kash, hip-hop artist Zlatan Ibile portrayed a notorious gangster. He mentioned how difficult his role was to play.
During a recent interview with media personality Samuel Eni, Zlatan revealed that learning the karate moves for the film took him months.
He also revealed that he temporarily stopped singing in order to focus on mastering his role in the film Gang of Lagos, which will premiere on April 7, 2023.
He said.
“I’ve always wanted to be an actor.” I had an image in my head. But I didn’t want it to be any old movie. So, when I was called up and told that Amazon Prime wanted me to be in a movie, I said, ‘Yes, this is the one I want.’
“It took me months to figure out those Jet Li and Jackie Chan moves.” It was a little stressful. I calculated my time. I had to take a break from recording music for a while. It took us about two months to get to the point where we could start shooting the movie. “The film was shot in 2021.”
