In Akwa Ibom, the NSCDC has arrested four people for allegedly blending contaminated AGO

According to the Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps (NSCDC), four individuals were apprehended and their two trucks with 75,000 liters of contaminated Automotive Gas Oil (AGO) were seized.

Mr. Eluyemi Eluwade, the NSCDC’s Commandant in Akwa Ibom, made the announcement on Tuesday during a press briefing at the command’s exhibits yard on Abak Road in Uyo. He said that the four suspects had been apprehended on Monday at a gas station in Uyo’s Abak Road neighborhood while they were attempting to mix two products to create Automotive Gas Oil (AGO).

According to him, the first truck carried 45,000 gallons of Dual Purpose Kerosene (DPK), while the second carried 30,000 gallons of Marine Diesel Oil (MDO).

He warned that the vandals’ and criminals’ actions could do serious damage to Nigeria’s economy, and that a country working toward progress should not tolerate such behavior.

His words: “With the backing of our Commandant General, Dr. Audi Abubakar, yesterday, September 25, 2023, our team of anti-vandals went out, detained four suspects, and confiscated two trucks in a station, where they are trying to blend two items to manufacture an Automotive Gas Oil (AGO).

“And other items recovered at the site were: 13 nos 25 litres dissolver chemicals, four plastic hose, two pumping machines, one generator, one electric pump, and 2 flow metres,” he added.

The command will not let up on arresting criminals, thus Eluwade urged all offenders in the State to turn over a new leaf.

As a deterrence to other crooks, the State Commandant said the accused would be arraigned in court as soon as the inquiry was complete.
