“I survived 38 court cases to become Governor.” — Oborevwori

Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori stated on Friday that he survived 38 cases in various courts from pre-election to post-election, including the Supreme Court, to become Governor of Delta State.

During a thanksgiving service at the Government House Chapel in Asaba, the governor urged his opponents to work with him to bring Delta State ahead.

“This triumph demonstrates to our people that our God is faithful, and He alone has delivered us.

“This victory is for everyone, and as I promised Deltans, I will be governor for all Deltans,” he stated.

Oborevwori stated that God had ordained him to be governor and thanked Deltans for their support.

“I came to this altar before going to Abuja for the final judgment, and I stated God is not a man who lies. I told God that every time He gave me victory, I would return here and praise Him.

“I’ve done it multiple times, and I promised to return on the same day of triumph to thank God. The Lord has redeemed me.

“This triumph is about the people of Delta State, not me. The immediate prior governor stated that anyone who does not recognise this altar will never be governor; God has honored that word.

Oberevwori went on to say, “This case brings my total number of pre-election cases to 38. Even governors who had served for eight years had not dealt with such a large number of cases.

The governor, who was greeted by a large audience at Asaba International Airport after arriving from Abuja, expressed satisfaction that the litigation was ended and promised to focus on delivering on his MORE Agenda for the people.

In response to the decision, Delta State’s immediate past governor, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa, wrote on his verified Facebook account: “This judgement truly underscores the trust and confidence that the people of our state, the Big Heart of our nation, have placed in the leadership of Governor Oborevwori’s administration and our great party.”

Also, former governor of the state, Emmanuel Uduaghan, stated: “These cases have been fairly tough, but for those who have walked through this route, propaganda was a major concern.

“We thank God for the overall result; it is now time to settle down fully and deliver the dividends of democracy.”
