Charles Oputa, better known by his stage name, Charly Boy, has indicated that his father, Justice Chukwudifu Oputa, was a major influence on his life.
The legendary musician reflected fondly on his time spent with his lawyer father in a posthumous birthday tribute to his father.
He credited his father for helping him rediscover “a deeper meaning in life” and “my purpose on earth.”
Even as a rebellious child, I inherited a lot from my parents, especially my father,” Charly Boy wrote on his X handle on Sunday.
Chukwudifu Oputa, a Justice.
The years we spent together were some of the best of my life, and I am very grateful for them. Instilling strong ideals in my DNA, you reawakened in me a deeper meaning of life and the realization of my destiny here on earth.
“Thanks to you, I’ve grown to appreciate modesty and contentment. Rare are the children whose parents have a profound effect on their development and worldview. I appreciate it because of this. I know I’m fortunate.
I was brought up with an abundance of high standards of morality, values, honesty, and spirituality. You were born to teach, as evidenced by your previous position as principal when you were younger. You instilled in me a commitment to morality, an awareness of the consequences of my actions, and a desire to grow in wisdom and insight.
You kept downloading the code of conduct or way of life that leads to genuine happiness, and I remember our constant heated arguments about the seeming injustices and inequalities that prevail in Nigeria.
“You taught that money can’t buy pleasure and that material possessions are fleeting. That hardships exist for everyone, regardless of socioeconomic status. But those who make it their mission to learn the truth about the world will ultimately succeed.
Thank you for showing me the way through life, Dad. I take great pride in being the son of such a modest and well-liked man.
You are cherished right now and forevermore. Have a great day, old man!
