Nyesom Wike, Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, has challenged the leadership of his party, the Peoples Democratic Party, to suspend or discipline him.
Wike mentioned this during an interview with Channels Television’s Politics Today on Wednesday.
SAREWAHAUSA remembers that the immediate former governor of Rivers State, a member of the major opposition party, the PDP, was sworn in as minister of FCT a few days ago by President Bola Tinubu of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC.
In response to the criticism he received upon his appointment, Wike stated that he informed the PDP leadership before accepting President Tinubu’s cabinet offer.
Wike, on the other hand, stated that he has not seen any PDP chieftain who will suspend him from the party.
“Are you concerned that your party will turn against you or expel you?”
“Who is the party?” Wike responded. Who are the PDP supporters? How can anyone even consider removing me? A state that produced a governor, three senators, 32 members out of 32 House of Assembly members, and 11 members out of 13 House of Representatives.
“The person who would suspend me is the one who couldn’t produce a governor, senators, or Assembly members?”
“Look, with all due respect, I have not seen that person.” I should be the one demanding discipline for breaking the party’s constitution.”
