George Turnah, Jonathan’s godson, and two others were arrested for a N2.9 billion fraud

The Federal High Court in Rivers State has found and sentenced George Turnah, who was as Special Adviser to former NDDC Managing Director Dan Abia.

Former President Goodluck Jonathan’s political godson Turnah was given a six-year prison term for fraud together with two others.

Along with Turnah, two others have been given their sentences: Ebis Orubebe and Uzorgor Chidebere.

They were found guilty of money laundering, conversion of funds, and forgery by the presiding judge, Justice A. T. Mohammed.

There was a penalty for their actions under Section 1(3) of the Advance Fee Fraud and Other Fraud Related Offences Act, 2006, which stated that their actions were in violation of Section 1 (1) (a) of the Act.

They were first arraigned in May 2017 by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, and again on January 25, 2021.

A total of N2,894,500,000 in charges including “obtaining by false pretense,” “money laundering,” and “abuse of office” were filed against them.

On Monday, EFCC’s spokesman Wilson Uwujaren verified the report.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission’s Port Harcourt Zonal Command filed charges against them, and they were found guilty, according to a statement released by Uwujaren on September 7, 2023.

The statement claims that they are “not guilty” of the charges.
