A new Executive Order has been signed by Governor of Rivers State Nyesom Wike.
He issued Executive Order 21 outlawing political party use of public schools without Ministry of Education consent. According to Wike, applicants would also deposit a N5 million caution charge in case visitors damaged school property.
Additionally, he stated that the application for permission must be submitted at least two weeks before to the campaign’s start date. Wike emphasized that if permission was not obtained, the local council chairman had the authority to put an end to any rally. Additionally, he issued a warning that the state administration would not tolerate political parties and their followers disturbing the peace when the elections got underway. The Rivers State leader recommended candidates for the election of the following year to behave themselves lawfully, sincerely, and responsibly. He issued a warning that any head of school who colluded with political parties to organize protests without getting permission from the state government would face consequences. in preparation for the 2023 elections, Governor Wike reaffirmed his opposition to gang members and cult members using hotels and other public places as gathering places.
