A woman whose body was discovered in a hotel in Yola, Adamawa State’s capital, has been recognized by her former spouse.
A suspected ritual killer had taken the woman to the hotel, now known as Happy Day Guest Inn, beheaded her, and escaped with the head.
Auwal Garba, the deceased’s ex-husband, acknowledged to the Adamawa State Police Command on Friday evening that the deceased, Bilkisu Idi, was his wife until last month. She was murdered at the Happy Day Guest Inn on Thursday, January 18.
According to Adamawa State Police Command Public Relations Officer Suleiman Nguroje, who offered an update on the event, Auwal Garba revealed that Bilkisu was his wife, whom he married about six years ago.
Garba allegedly claimed that the marriage, which produced a child, terminated in December 2023 when he divorced her.
He claimed the deceased called him on the day she was killed, seeking to speak with her child, but he informed her the youngster was with his grandma.
