After a botched car importation agreement in Lagos State, he charged two car importers with defrauding him of $112,000 (N67.2m).
The importers, Obi Victor and Vincent Obi were charged with three counts of acquiring money by deception, fraud, and theft in front of Chief Magistrate L. A. Owolabi at the Samuel Ilori Court in Ogbà, Lagos State.
According to Adekunle, the defendants demanded $112,000 in exchange for the commitment to import 11 cars from the United States of America.
The money deposited for the cars, according to Adekunle, was stolen, and the guys were detained after the police were notified of the incident.
The offences were punishable, according to police prosecutor Josephine Ikhayere, under sections 411, 314 (1) (a-b), and 284(1) (a-b) of Lagos State’s 2015 Criminal Law.
The accused entered a not guilty plea to the accusations.
They were granted bail by Chief Magistrate Owolabi with the condition that each of the two sureties had three years’ worth of tax payment receipts and is a property owner with a minimum bank account balance of N500,000.
