Burna Boy is the first artist from Africa to do this

Burnaboy, a Nigerian afrobeat singer, is the first African artist to have two albums included in the top 100 on the Billboard album chart.

With the debut of “Talibans II” this week on the Billboard Hot 100, Burna Boy has become the first African artist to have three singles appear on the chart in successive years, beginning with “Loved By You” in 2021 and “Last Last” in 2022.

Since Burna boy has had a song debut on the charts every year for the past three years (with “Last Last” from Love, Damini and “Taliban II” from his most recent album, “I Told Them”), he is officially known as the “triple threat.”

Upon its release, Burna Boy featuring Byron Messia’s “Taliban II” debuted at position #53 on this week’s Billboard Canadian Hot 100, making him the eighth African artist to ever chart on that chart.

As his seventh studio album, “I told them” joins the ranks of the likes of “African Giant” and “Love Damini” in the Afrobeat singer’s illustrious discography.
