Akume SGF George Akume assures the Nigerian people that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu would keep his word and work to improve people’s lives, and that they should “trust the process.”
On Saturday, Akume tweeted a laundry list of things being done by the Tinubu administration to fulfill the promises made by the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The SGF stated that one of the goals is to stop the spiraling cost of gasoline in the country.
Remember that in his first speech as President on May 29th, Tinubu declared the elimination of the gasoline subsidy, leading to a nationwide increase in the price of gasoline.
The Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC) Limited, which also raised prices at its retail stations, cited pressures from the market as the reason for the move.
The SGF addressed the problem, saying that Tinubu’s plan to rebuild the country has been in the works for decades and that the president is working on a solution.
He pleaded with the people to wait for the administration to reveal its strategy to boost the economy.
“As our squad takes form, I’d like to remind everyone that @officialABAT did not just show up; he had a game plan. What he needs to do, he is doing. For decades, he has worked to realize this dream, and now it is becoming reality with #TheAsiwajuPlan.
We in government have heard your complaints about the rising cost of petrol, and you can rest assured that we are working tirelessly to restore order and implement measures to alleviate your suffering. When you wake up, it is our responsibility to ensure that you have the kind of life you deserve. We’re on the right track,” he declared.
The former governor of Benue State said the annual payments for the gasoline subsidy were unsustainable and that Tinubu “had to act.”
The ex-senator admitted the immediate effect would be negative, but he urged Nigerians to have patience.
To that aim, we are already formulating plans to implement measures that improve your lives and increase your disposable income while allowing market forces to restore price stability. He went on to say, “I urge you to trust the process, as we have a clear plan for economic restoration.”
Akume went on to say that Tinubu’s reforms to the country’s security architecture and unified exchange rate demonstrated his dedication to taking decisive action to ensure the country’s future.
The lifting of restrictions on business is just the beginning of this trend. Additional initiatives aimed at improving health, schools, farms, cities, and more are currently in the works. The SGF tweeted, “#HolisticSolution #NigeriaISBack.
