Before the 2023–24 season, Liverpool has named a new captain and vice captain

Virgil Van Dijk has been chosen captain of the Liverpool Football Club, with Trent Alexander-Arnold being named vice-captain.

With Jordan Henderson now playing for Saudi Arabia, the Dutch international became the top candidate for the role. James Milner, a free agent who just signed with Brighton, has been replaced by Trent Alexander-Arnold.

In an interview on the club’s website conducted in Singapore, Virgil Van Dijk could not contain his enthusiasm.

“Today is a really special day for my family and me. It was an extraordinary sensation that I find hard to put into words. However, it is something of which I am really proud.

A significant honor and a source of great pride is being named captain of the Netherlands national team. I also can’t put into words what it’s like to be the captain of Liverpool Football Club. It’s just something that makes me feel good about myself, and I want to do everything I can to make the fans happy and proud of me and my football team.

Since joining the Reds from Southampton in January 2018, the center back has been an integral component of the team.
