Chelsea has agreed to purchase defender Axel Disasi from AS Monaco for 45 million euros (about £38.57 million).
Disasi, a 25-year-old French international, will provide Chelsea with depth at right center back after Wesley Fofana’s injury.
After having surgery on his anterior cruciate ligament, Fofana will be out of commission for an extended period of time.
In addition, Benoit Badiashile is out with an injury and won’t be able to play until the Premier League season has begun.
As it stands, Chelsea’s central defender alternatives are Thiago Silva, Trevoh Chalobah, and Levi Colwill, who has drawn interest from Brighton.
