Appeal Court directs ASUU to begin working right away.

Members of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) have been told to start working again immediately by the Court of Appeal in Abuja.

The National Industrial Court’s (NIC) order requesting that the lecturers on strike return to work was challenged, and the appellate court granted ASUU’s request for permission to do so.

ASUU was also given conditional permission to appeal the Industrial Court’s ruling, but the Court insisted that ASUU must comply with the ruling of the lower court as of today, October 7.

The three-person panel, presided over by Justice Hamman Barka, ruled that ASUU must provide proof that its members had started working again right away in order to file its notice of appeal within seven days.

The panel determined that the appeal would be ineligible before the Court of Appeal if it did not follow the order.
