Allowing Ekweremadu to serve his sentence in the United Kingdom demonstrates Nigeria’s weakness, according to Adamu Garba.
Adamu Garba, a senior member of the All Progressives Congress, has chastised the federal government for allowing Senator Ike Ekweremadu to serve his sentence in a foreign country.
Such a thing, he claims, cannot happen in the United States or the United Kingdom. He claimed that it is happening in Nigeria because of the country’s system’s weakness and the “stenches of colonialism.”
He stated,
“How can a Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Ike Ekweremadu, serve a jail term in a foreign land if not for the weakness of our system and the stench of colonialism? “Would America, the United Kingdom, or any other European country allow that?
“Regardless of the offense, he deserves to be repatriated to Nigeria, face a Nigerian court, and be sanctioned by Nigerian law. “I see this as an assault on our sovereignty, laws, and the international status of our statehood.”
