After the disagreement between Tottenham and Liverpool, Gary Neville has suggested a replacement for VAR in the English Premier League

Gary Neville, a former Manchester United captain, has urged the Premier League to adopt the semi-automated offside system.

This comes after a contentious incident during Saturday night’s 2-1 victory by Tottenham Hotspurs over Liverpool.

Liverpool have received an apology from the Professional Game Match Officials Limited (PGMOL) for having a goal disallowed against Tottenham Hotspur by Luis Diaz.

Diaz got by the Spurs’ defense and beat Guglielmo Vicario with a shot that found the back of the net.

But the flag for offside was raised by the linesman. The Colombian appeared to be onside, but VAR ruled otherwise. However, TV cameras did not display the offside lines.

“Goal-line Technology and Offside have been the two pillars of accuracy with VAR,” Neville said in a tweet.

Over the past month, I’ve begun to lose faith in offsides calls, and today’s events haven’t helped. Quickly implement the fully automated system.

Semi-automated systems eliminate the requirement for manual line drawing and activation.

Instead, it properly identifies skeletal points, such as the head, toes, upper arm, and knees, on numerous players at once and creates a virtual offside line in real time.
