After defeating West Ham, Erling Haaland establishes a new Premier League record.

Erling Haaland’s 35th goal of the season against West Ham United set a new Premier League record.
Following Arsenal’s convincing 3-1 win over Chelsea at the Emirates Stadium on Tuesday night, City knew that only a win would return them to the top of the Premier League table.

West Ham, meanwhile, were looking to escape the relegation zone after losses to Liverpool and Crystal Palace dropped them to 15th place, just four points ahead of 18th-placed Nottingham Forest.

Under the lights at the Etihad Stadium on Wednesday night, City completely controlled the proceedings while West Ham sat back to absorb the pressure.

Following the conclusion of the first half At 0-0, City shifted into high gear in the second period.

In the 50th minute, Nathan Ake headed in a Riyad Mahrez cross to give the hosts the lead.

As the clock approached the 70th minute, Haaland was put through his paces by Jack Grealish.

The Norwegian superstar cleverly dinked the ball over the charging Lukasz Fabianski to put City up 2-0.

That was Haaland’s 35th Premier League goal of the season, breaking the record set by Andy Cole in 1993/94 and Alan Shearer in 1994/95.

What makes Haaland’s record even more impressive is that both Cole and Shearer scored 34 goals in a 42-game season, whereas Haaland only played 31 games.
