Adamu Garba Protests and Explains Why Kalu Can Never Be Senate President

Adamu Garba, a senior member of the All Progressives Congress, APC, has stated that former Abia State Governor Orji Uzo Kalu is qualified but will not be elected president of the 10th Senate due to the party’s poor performance in the South-East.

Adamu, who appeared on Arise Television’s morning show on Monday, expressed confidence that the Senate Chief Whip would withdraw from the Senate presidency race.

The APC National Working Committee zoned the position to the South-South, with Godswill Akpabio of Akwa Ibom State and Barau Jubrin of Kano State chosen for Senate presidency and deputy, respectively.

However, Kalu supporters have insisted that the position be filled zoned to the South-East region, implying that the Chief Whip is the best candidate for the job. Mr Garba, however, stated on Arise TV that the lawmaker should first organize the people of his region in order to properly align with the ruling party.

He stated,

“I am confident that Senator Orji Uzor Kalu will withdraw from the race for Senate President.”

“He is qualified, but his performance from the South-east is significantly low.” He should find a way to organize the South-east so that it can strongly mainstream with the APC.”
