According to activist Aisha Yesufu, marriage does not confer the right to act wickedly

An activist in Nigeria named Aisha Yesufu has resorted to social media to defend her future daughter-in-law’s right to react in the event that her future mother-in-law gets slapped by Yesufu.

On Sunday, Yesufu made this clear on her Twitter page in response to a message by one Kene, in which he said that if his wife retaliates if his mother smacks her, she faces either death or a coma.

“There are a few of you young ladies who are absolutely useless. You had the nerve to confront your mother-in-law after she had spoken with you. How do you say that in Ara? You yelled at her and she slapped you; in response, you mind slap her? Good thing you can get married to a vegetable. You weren’t raised to argue with my mom when she’s talking to you, so don’t even try.

If I find out that my mom smacked you and you slapped back, I’ll give you a choice between the morgue and the hospital bed.

Yesufu, in response to Kene’s tweet, told her daughter-in-law to give it back if Kene slapped her first. She went on to suggest that the young woman divorce her husband (Yesufu’s son) if he sides with his mother.

I am old enough to be a mother-in-law, and my son is old enough to be married right this second if he wants to.

If my son promotes nonsense, my daughter-in-law or would-be daughter-in-law has my permission to slap her. Who the hell cares what benefits you think marriage gives you. justification for acting wickedly,” she queried.
