Sele-ebi Ware-ebi, a 20-year-old Nigerian man, was allegedly murdered by members of a cult.
The victim was brutally stabbed in the Tuomo town of Delta State because he was wearing a red beret.
Sele-ebi, a native of Torugbene, was reportedly murdered on Friday while visiting the neighboring Tuomo community in the Burutu Local Government Area of Delta State, as reported by Vanguard.
According to information acquired by Vanguard, the cultist was lynched by an enraged mob of his village after being bound with the corpse of the victim.
A source claims that the cultist demanded N5,000 from Sele-ebi in exchange for wearing the cult’s distinctive colored beret, and when Sele-ebi refused, the cultist pulled out a knife and fatally stabbed him.
The victim’s beret, according to the source, was originally intended for use in religious contexts before he was attacked by the cultist.
According to him: “A Tuomo man, who is alleged to be a cultist, stopped a Torugbene man, who was sporting a beret.” The cult member questioned the Torugbene man about his beret choice.
The two then got into an argument after the Torugbene guy claimed the beret belonged to his church.
Then the Tuomo man asked for N5,000 from the Torugbene man before he would release him. The man from Torugbene claimed he was broke. The Tuomo man then produced a knife and fatally stabbed the Torugbene man.
People from the Tuomo community quickly bound their son and took the injured man to the hospital. The man had to be put to rest, sadly. So they bound their son to the corpse and beat him to death.
