Aisha Yesufu laments the Nasarawa ruling, citing robbery and coup

Aisha Yesufu, a well-known sociopolitical activist, has criticized the Supreme Court’s decision on the Nasarawa State governorship election.

According to the SAREWAHAUSA, the Supreme Court validated Nasarawa State Governor Sule Abdullahi’s victory on Friday, dismissing a lawsuit filed against the election by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and its governorship candidate, Emmanuel David Ombugadu.

The court upheld the governor’s election, ruling that the claims against it were not proven.

In a lead and unanimous opinion, Justice Kudirat Kekere-Ekun stated that the PDP and Ombugadu petitions have no probative value.

In response, Aisha alleged that the ruling was a robbery.

She wrote on X, “The Nasarawa people were robbed of their mandate.”

“This is a coup against the people. They chose who they wanted, but were denied their mandate.

“It is another sad day for democracy in Nigeria.”
