Former presidential spokesman Garba Shehu has maintained that former president Muhammadu Buhari is responsible for rescuing the Nigerian economy.
When asked about assertions that Buhari’s administration drove Nigeria into a plethora of difficulties that have led to the current hardship, Shehu made the remark.
Shehu made this claim in an interview with the BBC Hausa Service, saying that no previous administration had economic hardships on par with Buhari’s.
He said that no administration has the power to fix every issue in a country.
“If there were difficulties or problems, these should be investigated in order to know how they arose,” Shehu says.
The decline in oil prices and our reliance on it put a strain on the economy that no previous administration had to deal with to the extent that Buhari’s did.
The Coronavirus epidemic happened as well. The economy tanked as countries closed their borders. But Praise be to God, Buhari rescued the Nigerian economy.
Remi Tinubu, president Bola Tinubu’s wife, had previously said that her husband had inherited a ruined economy from Buhari, which prompted this response.
She said Tinubu is not a magician, but she has faith that he will do what it takes to repair Nigeria.
