Freedom Day The FG Says No to a New Wage and a Palliative

In response to rumors that President Bola Tinubu will use Independence Day to announce a pay award for workers, the Federal Government has denied the rumors.

In a statement released on Wednesday, Mr. Olajide Oshundun, the Ministry of Labour’s Director of Press and Public Relations, attributed the explanations to Minister of Labour and Employment Simon Lalong.

He urged readers to disregard the article, claiming the reporter had made up the entire thing to advance the newspaper’s agenda.

During his Independence Day speech on October 1, the President is expected to give pay awards and palliatives to workers, according to online reports. The Ministry of Labour and Employment has taken note of these claims.

A meeting between the Federal Government and Labour to avoid the impending strike has been scheduled for Tuesday, according to the story, which is alleged to have originated from a reported interview with the Director of Information at the ministry.

To put it bluntly, “we wish to state categorically that the report is false and misleading as at no time did the Director of Information make such disclosure,” he stated.

He also said that the Director of Information at the ministry does not speak for the President, and that this should be made clear for the sake of clarity.
