The government of Cross River State has reaffirmed its commitment to working closely with USAID toward the goal of Universal Health Coverage (UHC).
When the USAID delegation met with Calabar’s health commissioner, Dr. Henry Egbe Ayuk, he made the announcement.
He promised them that Governor Bassey Otu’s administration would do its best to foster an atmosphere that would allow for long-lasting, fruitful collaboration.
“We’ll cooperate with you. We intend to be really picky. Tell us your goals so we can debate them and hopefully agree on something.
If we’re going to make a change, it’s going to have to come from you, my beloved coworkers. The Commissioner emphasized the importance of basing our relationship on results.
Ayuk pleaded with the partners to ensure an expansion of healthcare services, increased private sector engagement, better services at general hospitals, and the attraction of financing to bring about Universal Health Coverage (UHC) in the State.
Umana Joe, State Director of Excellence Community Education Welfare Scheme (ECEWS), spoke on behalf of the USAID team and praised the productive partnership between the State and the Implementing Partners.
They promised ongoing assistance in areas of very high priority, such as the advancement of healthcare.
His words, “Be rest assured of our USAID Implementing Partners’ collaboration with Cross River State,” came with the promise of service area cleanup.
